Why Does the Ford C-Max Energi Have 2 Efficiency Ratings?

You may have noticed while shopping around for new plug-in hybrids in Castle Rock that plug-in models, like the C-Max Energi, have two efficiency ratings.

  • 95 combined MPGe
  • 39 combined MPG

The question then becomes: What is MPGe, and how is it different from MPG?

The Ford C-Max Energi can be plugged in to a 120V or 240V outlet to charge, just like an electric car, and can drive up to 20 miles without using any gasoline. But to the environmentally-conscientious driver, just knowing the car's electric range isn't enough...

One such enthusiast is Dylan Guiney, who lends his 1995 Ford F-150 XLT for a comparison against the brand-new 2017 Ford F-150 XLT.
